The Arc Gloucester receives $100,000 Sub-Grant

Sub-Grants, given in different amounts, were awarded to Arc's across the United States as part of the Walmart Foundation School-to-Community Transition Project.  The project aims to increase transition outcomes and to build inclusion and involvement of youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities in independent living, employment, post-secondary education or vocational training, and community, social and civic affairs.

The Arc Gloucester will be collaborating with the Gloucester County Adult Center for Transition, Gloucester County College and other service providers in Gloucester County to provide individuals ages 16 - 24 wit intellectual or related developmental disabilities, including autism, with the services and supports needed to allow for a smooth transition from high school to community.  On an average year, approximately 650 students with intellectual or related developmental disabilities in Gloucester County leave the school system and are potentially in need of some type of transition supports and services.  This program will assist students and their families during what could be an otherwise stressful and uncertain time.
