Inclusive Recreation

What is it?  Funded through the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), the Inclusive Recreation Program provides financial assistance to families interested in utilizing inclusive recreation programs/activities in the community for their son/daughter/family member with a developmental disability.

 

Who is Eligible?  Individuals registered with DDD who reside in Gloucester County.

 

How do I access the service?  Contact your DDD assigned case manager and request a referral for the Inclusive Recreation Program through The Arc Gloucester.  You should have information available for the case manager regarding programs and costs.

 

What happens after I request a referral?  Your request will be reviewed by DDD.  Upon approval, your request will be forwarded to The Arc Gloucester for processing.  You will be contacted by an employee from The Arc Gloucester.  Further details will be given at that time as to the amount approved by DDD and when a check will be sent out.  Funding amounts will vary from year to year, based on ability.

 

What kind of inclusive activities are available?  Inclusive recreation activities/programs include, but are not limited to: swim lessons, karate classes, gymnastics, sports camps, horseback riding, after-school program, day care, music lessons, and dance lessons.  You may also request funds to cover the cost of uniforms, equipment, and/or a shadow/buddy if needed.
