The Arc Gloucester provides a variety of residential services to meet the needs of men and women with developmental disabilities.
Many Group Homes are scattered throughout the county in settings as diverse as historic downtown Woodbury to the quiet lanes of Mullica Hill. Each home accommodates three to eight adults. Around the clock supervision assures a safe and secure environment while residents are encouraged to participate in decision making processes regarding the house hold.
Supervised apartments offer consumers the opportunity to utilize skills of independent living: cooking, travel in the community, money management, and self medication. Consumers share apartments that are clustered near an Arc Office that is staffed 24 hours a day. Staff members visit apartments throughout the day and are accessible by phone or visiting the office.
Consumers who demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks required of independent living maybe considered for supportive living. While renting their own apartments throughout the county they continue to receive at least 4 hours per week of staff assistance.
Individual Habilitation Plans (IHP) – Staff members provide one-on-one training and support to help consumers reach their goals.
Activities – A variety of social and recreational activities are offered. In addition, consumers are encouraged to use resources available in the community.
Medical and Rehabilitation – Our Staff works closely with physicians and other health professionals to meet special medical needs. Each consumer has a primary physician who is responsible for total health management.
Dietary – While encouraging consumers to develop independence in dietary skills, staff ensure that menus are well balanced and meet the dietary needs for each consumer.
Hygiene – Consumers are assisted, as needed with bathing, shampooing, dental care, application of cosmetics, proper use of toiletries and selection of clothing.
Transportation – transportation is provided for day programs, doctor visits, recreational activities, and social events.
Visits – Family members are encouraged to visit and join in social events at the residences. Counseling – A program consultant offers professional support to help consumers reach their personal goals.
